About the Sobeys Logo Logo
Introduction
A flowing green signature with a four-petal clover for a full stop — the Sobeys logo in this download is the current corporate identity of Canada’s second-largest grocer.
Brand Overview
Sobeys is a Canadian supermarket chain founded in 1924 in Stellarton, Nova Scotia, by John W. Sobey, a meat dealer who began by delivering from a horse-drawn wagon. Still headquartered in Stellarton and owned by the Sobey family’s Empire Company, it runs more than 1,600 stores under banners including Sobeys, Safeway Canada, IGA and FreshCo. Its official website is sobeys.com.
History of the Sobeys Logo
Sobeys signed its stores in block capitals for much of the 20th century, then in rounded green lowercase from the 2000s. The current identity — the one in this download, standardised as the company’s corporate mark in 2024 and presented as the company’s logo by Sobeys itself — returns to handwriting: a sweeping green script that echoes the founder-era signature, accompanied by a four-petal clover mark.
Meaning of the Logo
- The script: A signature instead of a typeset name — a family company still signing its own work, a century after John Sobey’s first deliveries.
- The clover: Four green petals for freshness and good fortune — and a quiet nod to the family’s Irish-Scottish Nova Scotia roots.
- Sobeys green: A bright, leafy green that keeps the handwritten mark planted firmly in the produce aisle.

Conclusion
Sobeys’ logo signs like its founder did: a green handwritten name and a lucky clover, carrying a Nova Scotia family business into its second century.
