About the Publix Logo Logo
Introduction
Six rounded green letters with the posture of a smile — the Publix logo in this download is the current identity of America’s largest employee-owned supermarket company.
Brand Overview
Publix Super Markets is an American supermarket chain founded in 1930 in Winter Haven, Florida, by George W. Jenkins, who left a rival grocer to build stores so pleasant that shopping felt like a treat. Headquartered in Lakeland, Florida, Publix is owned by its employees and runs more than 1,400 stores across the southeastern United States under the motto “Where Shopping Is a Pleasure”. Its official website is publix.com.
History of the Publix Logo
Publix lettering has been green for most of its life, but the current wordmark — plump, rounded capitals with an outsized, almost inflated “P” — was standardised as the chain modernised its stores from the 1990s onwards. The soft geometry was a deliberate contrast to the hard-edged wordmarks of rival chains: Jenkins’ pleasure principle, set in type. The version in this download is that familiar green signature, unchanged on Publix storefronts today.
Meaning of the Logo
- The rounded letters: Every corner is softened — the wordmark itself behaves like the stores promise to: friendly, unhurried, generous.
- The big P: The leading capital swells like a balloon, a small piece of showmanship from a founder who opened stores with dancers and free flowers.
- Publix green: One deep green, everywhere — the colour of the aprons, the trucks and the subs counter, and nowhere else in American grocery quite this shade.

Conclusion
Publix’s logo is its founder’s promise in letterform: shopping as a pleasure, written in the roundest, greenest letters in American retail.
