About the Dollar Tree Logo Logo
Introduction
Italic green capitals beside a tree whose canopy is a coin — the Dollar Tree logo in this download is the current identity of the American fixed-price variety chain.
Brand Overview
Dollar Tree is an American discount variety chain headquartered in Chesapeake, Virginia. Its roots go back to 1953, when K.R. Perry opened a Ben Franklin variety store in Norfolk; the “everything for a dollar” format was developed in the 1980s by Perry’s successors — Macon Brock, Doug Perry and Ray Compton — and the stores took the Dollar Tree name in 1986. The company today runs more than 16,000 Dollar Tree and Family Dollar stores. Its official website is dollartree.com.
History of the Dollar Tree Logo
The tree symbol grew with the chain: a round green canopy on a trunk, drawn so the canopy reads as a coin and its stem as the numeral “1” — the single-dollar price point the whole format was built on. The current lockup sets the symbol beside slanted green capitals, the version in this download; even after the chain moved beyond a strict one-dollar price in 2021, the coin-tree has stayed as its signature.
Meaning of the Logo
- The coin tree: Money that grows on a tree — the canopy is a dollar coin, its trunk the “1” of the original price point.
- The italics: The whole wordmark leans forward like a shopper in a hurry to a bargain.
- Dollar green: The green of the currency itself, doubled: the tree, the money and the name all say the same thing.

Conclusion
Dollar Tree’s logo is a pun that became a landmark: a tree grown from a one-dollar coin, leaning eagerly over 16,000 stores.
