Brand Overview
Sandvik AB is a Swedish engineering group founded in 1862 in Sandviken, where Göran Fredrik Göransson first succeeded in using the Bessemer process to mass-produce steel. Today Sandvik is a world leader in metal-cutting tools (Sandvik Coromant), mining and rock-excavation equipment, and advanced stainless steels and special alloys.

History of the Sandvik Logo
Sandvik wordmarks were long drawn in blue and, for decades, sat inside a distinctive rectangular frame. In 2023 the group retired the frame and the blue, launching a stripped-back identity: a circular symbol built from sweeping curved cuts — evoking both a drill’s rotation and the letter S — beside a plain black SANDVIK wordmark.
Meaning of the Sandvik Logo
- The cut symbol: the curved blades suggest cutting edges in rotation, the core of Sandvik’s tooling business.
- Black on white: dropping the historic blue for black states confidence — the name no longer needs decoration.
- The open circle: the symbol never fully closes, a quiet reference to circularity and recycling in metals.

Conclusion
A drill-bit swirl and six black capitals: Sandvik’s 2023 logo is Swedish engineering reduced to its essence.
