Brand Overview
ArcelorMittal is the world’s largest steel producer, headquartered in Luxembourg City. It was created in 2006 when Lakshmi Mittal’s Mittal Steel took over the European giant Arcelor in one of the largest mergers in industrial history. The group mines iron ore and makes steel on four continents, supplying the automotive, construction and packaging industries.

History of the ArcelorMittal Logo
The 2006 merger needed a symbol that belonged to neither parent. The answer was an abstract orange mark — an arc swept by a rising stroke, read variously as a flame, a ladle of molten steel, or the letter “a” for Arcelor drawn in Mittal’s orange. Set over the combined name in plain black, it announced a genuinely new company rather than a winner and a loser.
Meaning of the ArcelorMittal Logo
- The orange arc: molten metal in motion — the pour, the flame and the rising graph of a new steel giant in one gesture.
- The fused name: Arcelor and Mittal welded into a single word, capitalised at both ends of the join.
- Black and orange: the industry’s soot-black against the furnace’s orange — the two colours of steelmaking itself.

Conclusion
A ladle of fire over two welded names: the ArcelorMittal logo is a merger certificate drawn as a symbol.
