About Atlas Copco
The Atlas Copco Group is a Swedish multinational industrial company headquartered in Nacka, near Stockholm. Founded in 1873 by Edvard Fränckel as AB Atlas, a maker of railway equipment, the company evolved into a world leader in compressors, vacuum equipment, industrial power tools, generators, and pumps, sold in around 180 countries. The name Copco comes from Compagnie Pneumatique Commerciale, a Belgian subsidiary whose abbreviated name was adopted company-wide in 1956. With around 56,000 employees, Atlas Copco celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2023 and is listed on Nasdaq Stockholm.
Atlas Copco Logo Meaning and History
The Atlas Copco wordmark is a clean, industrial logotype whose straightforward lettering reflects more than 150 years of engineering heritage. The name itself tells the company’s story: Atlas, the titan who carries the world, paired with Copco from its Belgian compressed-air roots — a fitting identity for a company whose products keep the world’s industry moving.
