History of the John Deere Logo

A deer has marked Deere products since the first trademark registration of 1876, which showed the animal leaping over a log. The deer shed its log, its landscape and finally its detail across the twentieth century, and since 2000 it has leapt — sharpened and simplified — inside a green shield with a yellow border, in the flat two-colour form used today. The name below keeps the founder’s own: John Deere, in full, since 1837.

Meaning of the John Deere Logo

• The leaping deer: grace and speed in a field of horsepower — the animal every farmer knows, frozen mid-bound.
• The shield: the badge outline promises protection and parts support for machines that work for decades.
• Green and yellow: crop and harvest, field and sun — the most ownable colour pair in agriculture.
