About the Holland & Barrett Logo Logo
Introduction
A deep-green wordmark whose ampersand has quietly grown into a leaf — the Holland & Barrett logo in this download is the current identity of Britain’s biggest health-food retailer.
Brand Overview
Holland & Barrett is a British health and wellness retailer founded in 1870 in Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire, where Major William Holland and Alfred Slapps Barrett ran a grocery and clothing business that gradually specialised in health foods. Headquartered in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, it operates more than a thousand stores across the UK, Ireland and beyond. Its official website is hollandandbarrett.com.
History of the Holland & Barrett Logo
The founders’ names have fronted the business for over 150 years, in lockups that moved from Victorian shopfront lettering to modern retail sans-serifs. The current identity sets the two names in a friendly dark green, with the ampersand redrawn as a small two-tone leaf-heart — the version Holland & Barrett publishes today, and the one in this download.
Meaning of the Logo
- The leaf ampersand: The “&” is the whole business in one glyph — two founders joined by a leaf, commerce and nature in a single character.
- Deep green: The dark green is the colour of the health-food shop itself: botanical, wholesome and a long way from pharmacy white.
- Two names, kept whole: In an era of initials and abbreviations, the full Victorian partnership still signs the shopfront — heritage as a trust signal.

Conclusion
Holland & Barrett’s logo hides its whole story in one punctuation mark: two Victorian grocers, joined by a leaf, still trading 150 years later.
