History of the Deutsche Bahn Logo
Deutsche Bahn AG was founded on 1 January 1994, merging West Germany’s Bundesbahn with East Germany’s Reichsbahn into a single national railway for the reunified country. Its red-and-white DB badge, a design lineage going back to the 1950s, is one of the most recognised transport marks in the world, carried on trains, stations and the DB Group’s logistics brands. The current Deutsche Bahn logo presented on this page is the official mark in use today, kept in its original colors and proportions.
Meaning of the Deutsche Bahn Logo
- The white field framed in red makes the badge read instantly at platform distance.
- DB red is Germany’s rail colour — energetic, official and unmistakable.
- The bold fused DB letters form a single solid unit, symbolising the merged national railway.
