History of the BVG Logo
BVG was founded in 1928 and began operations in 1929, uniting Berlin’s underground, trams and buses in one company. Its logo — heavy black BVG letters on a bright yellow square — is one of Germany’s most recognisable transport marks, matching the yellow of Berlin’s U-Bahn trains, trams and buses. The current BVG logo presented on this page is the official mark in use today, kept in its original colors and proportions.
Meaning of the BVG Logo
- The bright yellow field is Berlin’s transport colour, impossible to miss on streets and station entrances.
- The chunky black capitals are direct and down-to-earth, in keeping with BVG’s famously cheeky Berlin voice.
- The simple square format works like a sign or sticker, a piece of the city itself.
