History of the CPKC Logo
CPKC was created on 14 April 2023, when Canadian Pacific completed its acquisition of Kansas City Southern — the first major US railroad merger in two decades. The new company kept Canadian Pacific’s heritage beaver shield as its crest, updated with the CPKC name, and adopted a bold red CPKC wordmark as its everyday corporate signature. The current CPKC logo presented on this page is the official mark in use today, kept in its original colors and proportions.
Meaning of the CPKC Logo
- The bold red CPKC letters present the merged railroad as one company across Canada, the US and Mexico.
- Red is Canadian Pacific’s historic colour, carried into the new brand to preserve more than 140 years of railway heritage.
- The companion CPKC shield keeps the golden beaver and maple leaf of Canadian Pacific, national symbols of Canada, alongside the initials of its three founding railroads.
