Brand Overview
Chupa Chups was founded in 1958 by Enric Bernat in Asturias, Spain, who put a boiled sweet on a stick and built a company around it; the name comes from the Spanish ‘chupar’, to suck. In 1969 Bernat asked his friend Salvador Dalí to design the logo. The brand is now owned by Perfetti Van Melle and sells in more than 150 countries.

History of the Chupa Chups Logo
Dalí’s 1969 daisy — red lettering on a yellow flower with a fine gold outline — is one of the few logos by a fine artist to survive unchanged in mass commerce. Dalí insisted it sit on top of the lollipop rather than the side, so the whole flower is always visible; it has crowned the sticks ever since.
Meaning of the Chupa Chups Logo
- The daisy: Dalí drew the brand as a flower — the sweet as a gift, not a product.
- The red script: handwritten warmth inside the petals; the name melts rather than marches.
- The yellow: pure boiled-sweet sunshine — the colour of the wrapper seen across a playground.
