About the Godiva Logo Logo

Introduction

The Godiva logo pairs the Lady Godiva on horseback, drawn in fine line, with ‘GODIVA Chocolatier’ in classical capitals. Download the Godiva logo in SVG and PNG formats below, free at VectorDose.

Brand Overview

Godiva was founded in 1926 in Brussels, Belgium, by Joseph Draps, who named his praline house after Lady Godiva, the 11th-century noblewoman of Coventry legend. The company’s gold ballotins and boutiques made it a global luxury chocolate name; since 2007 Godiva has been owned by Yildiz Holding, within its pladis group.

  • Founded: 1926, Brussels, Belgium
  • Founder: Joseph Draps
  • Industry: Luxury chocolate

History of the Godiva Logo

The horsewoman device has ridden above the Godiva name since the early years, redrawn in ever-finer line as printing improved. In its master form the lockup is set in gold on dark grounds or, as in the version served here, in black — classical serif capitals for GODIVA with ‘Chocolatier’ in italic beneath, unchanged in structure for generations.

Meaning of the Godiva Logo

  • The horsewoman: Lady Godiva herself — generosity as a brand story, carried in a single line drawing.
  • The serif capitals: roman inscription lettering for a Brussels house that sells ceremony as much as chocolate.
  • Black and gold: the mark exists in two registers — gold for the boutique, black for print — both unmistakably Godiva.
