About the Phillips 66 Logo Logo
Introduction
A highway shield in black, white and red, with the most famous number in American motoring across its chest — the Phillips 66 logo in this download is the current identity of Phillips 66.
Brand Overview
Phillips 66 is an American multinational energy company headquartered in the Westchase district of Houston, Texas. The present company began trading on 1 May 2012, when ConocoPhillips spun off its refining, chemical and retail businesses under the Phillips 66 name — a trademark dating to 1927 at the Phillips Petroleum Company, founded in 1917 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Its official website is phillips66.com.
History of the Phillips 66 Logo
The shield copies the black-and-white marker of U.S. Route 66: company lore says the name was chosen in 1927 after a Phillips test car hit 66 mph on the famous highway near Tulsa. The shield has fronted Phillips petrol stations ever since, surviving the 2002 Conoco merger and returning as the corporate emblem of the spun-off Phillips 66 in 2012. The version in this download is that current shield.
Meaning of the Logo
- The highway shield: The shape is lifted straight from Route 66 road signs — the Mother Road, borrowed as a brand.
- The number: “66” sits in the shield’s red field in huge italic numerals, a speedometer reading turned into a name.
- Red below, white above: The shield keeps its road-sign layout: the name in the white crown, the number on the red road.
Phillips 66 Logo Colors
| Color | Hex Code | Usage |
|---|---|---|
| Phillips Red | #EC1C24 | The lower field of the shield (the logo file’s own fill value) |
| Phillips Black | #231F20 | The shield outline and PHILLIPS lettering |
| White | #FFFFFF | The upper field of the shield |
The shield is a self-contained sign — black, white and red are the logo itself — so the artwork in this download is the complete shield with no extra background added.
Conclusion
Phillips 66’s logo is a road sign that became a company: a Route 66 shield carrying a number every American driver already knew.
