About the EDF Logo Logo
Introduction
Five orange shards swirling into a spark beside three deep-blue letters — the EDF logo in this download is the current identity of Électricité de France.
Brand Overview
EDF (Électricité de France) is a French multinational electric utility founded on 8 April 1946 in Paris, when France nationalised its electricity industry. Owned by the French state and headquartered in Paris, EDF is one of the world’s largest electricity producers, operating France’s nuclear fleet and utilities across Europe and beyond. Its official website is edf.com.
History of the EDF Logo
EDF’s current emblem — the orange “spark” — was introduced in 2009: five comma-like shards of orange arranged in a swirl, like a turbine or a star being born, set beside the lowercase blue initials. The design replaced the plainer marks of the state-monopoly era and has fronted EDF’s identity ever since; the version in this download is the one used across the EDF group today.
Meaning of the Logo
- The spark: Five orange fragments spiral like a turbine catching light — a single spark of electricity, frozen mid-swirl.
- Orange on blue: The hot orange of the spark against EDF’s deep institutional blue: energy against the state utility’s gravitas.
- Lowercase letters: “edf” stays small and rounded beside its spark — a national champion presenting itself as a household service.

Conclusion
EDF’s logo catches the exact moment electricity happens: five orange shards, one blue name, and a spark that never goes out.
