About the Vattenfall Logo Logo
Introduction
Grey capitals followed by a small circle split between Swedish yellow and blue — the Vattenfall logo in this download is the current identity of Sweden’s state power company.
Brand Overview
Vattenfall is a Swedish multinational power company founded in 1909, when the Swedish state began harnessing its waterfalls for electricity — “Vattenfall” is simply Swedish for “waterfall”. Wholly owned by the Swedish state and headquartered in Solna, Sweden, it generates power across northern and western Europe. Its official website is vattenfall.com.
History of the Vattenfall Logo
Vattenfall’s earlier identity paired black serif capitals with a busy sun-and-waves disc. In 2018 the company simplified everything: the name in plain grey capitals and a single calm circle — yellow above, blue below — like sun over water, or the Swedish flag folded into a coin. The version in this download is that current 2018 mark.
Meaning of the Logo
- The split circle: Yellow over blue is Sweden itself — flag colours, sun over water — reduced to one horizon line.
- The waterfall name: The company is named after its first power source; the blue lower half of the circle is that falling water, stilled into geometry.
- Grey, not black: The wordmark’s soft grey steps back so the small circle can glow — a state utility confident enough to whisper.
Vattenfall Logo Colors
| Color | Hex Code | Usage |
|---|---|---|
| Vattenfall Grey | #4E4B48 | The wordmark (the logo file’s own fill value) |
| Vattenfall Yellow | #FFDA00 | The upper half of the circle |
| Vattenfall Blue | #2071B5 | The lower half of the circle |
Grey, yellow and blue are the artwork’s only colours, and the space around the lockup in this download is fully transparent.
Conclusion
Vattenfall’s logo pours a Swedish waterfall into a coin: sun-yellow over water-blue, beside a name that just means falling water.
