Introduction
The Crayola logo sets green letters over a rainbow smile inside a yellow oval. It belongs to Crayola LLC, the American art-supply company whose crayons have coloured childhoods since 1903. Download the Crayola logo in SVG and PNG formats below, free at VectorDose.
Brand Overview
Crayola began in 1885 as Binney & Smith, founded by Edwin Binney and his cousin C. Harold Smith in New York. In 1903 the company launched its first box of eight crayons for a nickel; Alice Binney, a former teacher, coined the name “Crayola” from the French “craie” (chalk) and “ola” (oily). Now a Hallmark subsidiary based in Easton, Pennsylvania, Crayola makes crayons, markers and the Silly Putty it also owns.

History of the Crayola Logo
Crayola’s boxes long carried a green-and-gold design with a rainbow band. The modern logo gathers those elements into one emblem: the name in green with a yellow halo, over a sweeping rainbow “smile”, all inside a yellow oval edged in green — the version that heads crayola.com today and fronts every 64-count box.
Meaning of the Crayola Logo
- The rainbow smile: the swoosh is both a spectrum of crayon colours and a child’s grin — the product and the reaction in one stroke.
- The yellow oval: the badge echoes the classic crayon box, a container of colour recognised across generations.
- Green letters: the deep green name, haloed in yellow, nods to the brand’s historic green-and-gold packaging.
