Introduction
A dapper gentleman mid-stride, cane in hand, above serif capitals — the Johnnie Walker logo in this download is the Striding Man, whisky’s most optimistic trademark.
Brand Overview
Johnnie Walker is a blended Scotch whisky brand founded in 1820 in Kilmarnock, Scotland, where grocer John Walker began blending whiskies in his shop. His son Alexander gave it the square bottle and the colour-coded labels — Red, Black, Gold, Blue — and it became the best-selling Scotch in the world, today owned by Diageo. Its official website is johnniewalker.com.
History of the Johnnie Walker Logo
In 1908 the Walker family commissioned cartoonist Tom Browne to sketch a mascot, and legend says he drew the Striding Man on the back of a menu during lunch — a Regency dandy in top hat and boots, walking briskly forward. The figure was refined over the century (in 1999 he was turned to stride toward the future, left to right) and the “Keep Walking” line, launched the same year, made his meaning explicit. The lockup in this download pairs him with the JOHNNIE WALKER serif wordmark in the brand’s official one-colour form; on the bottles he strides in gold above the coloured labels.
Meaning of the Logo
- The Striding Man: Progress personified — always mid-step, never standing still, a blend forever on its way somewhere.
- The Regency dress: Top hat, tailcoat and cane dress modern ambition in the manners of John Walker’s own century.
- “Keep Walking”: The slogan the drawing inspired — two words that turned a logo into a philosophy of perseverance.
Johnnie Walker Logo Colors
| Color | Hex Code | Usage |
|---|---|---|
| Black | #000000 | The Striding Man and wordmark in this one-colour version (the logo file’s own fill value) |
Black is this version’s only colour, and the space around the lockup in this download is fully transparent.
Conclusion
The Striding Man has been walking for over a century and has never once looked back — the perfect emblem for a blend built on moving forward.
