About the Dunelm Logo
Introduction
A friendly green wordmark with a house roof rising over its final letters — the Dunelm logo literally puts a roof over the brand’s name. It fronts the UK’s largest homewares retailer and its promise: “The Home of Homes.”
Brand Overview
Dunelm is a British home-furnishings retailer founded in 1979 in Leicester, England, by Bill Adderley and Jean Adderley, who began by selling curtains from a market stall. Headquartered in Syston, Leicestershire, Dunelm grew into one of Britain’s biggest homeware chains; until 2013 it traded as Dunelm Mill. Its official website is dunelm.com.
History of the Dunelm Logo
For years the business traded as Dunelm Mill — a nod to the textile mills behind its curtain trade. The 2013 shortening to plain Dunelm brought a cleaner identity: a rounded green wordmark underlined by a single stroke, with the roofline of a house drawn over the “lm” — the home built into the name itself. The strapline “The Home of Homes” completes the lockup used across stores and the website today.
Meaning of the Logo
- The roof: The outline of a house crowns the wordmark — the entire business in one line.
- The underline stroke: A single confident sweep, like the hem of the curtains the company started with.
- Dunelm green: Fresh and high-street friendly, chosen to stand out among Britain’s retail parks.
