About Mexico
‘México’ is Mexico’s official country brand — the tourism identity created by the Mexico Tourism Board (VisitMexico). Each letter carries motifs from Mexican culture: M — prehispanic designs; é — Mexican pink florals; x — the sun and warmth in folk-craft style; i — modern lilac; c — nature and wildlife; o — the ocean and beaches. While the brand was in active use, Mexico’s international tourist arrivals grew from around 20 million in 2004 to more than 40 million in 2018.
Mexico Logo Meaning and History
The México logo tells the story of a country in six letters — every glyph a small artwork referencing ancient civilizations, craft traditions, sunshine, modernity, biodiversity and the sea. Introduced in the 2000s, it became one of the world’s most recognizable country brands. After the Tourism Promotion Council was disbanded in 2018 the brand fell out of use, but tourism leaders have campaigned to bring it back.
Mexico Logo Evolution
- 2000s: The colorful ‘México’ country brand is introduced by the Mexico Tourism Board to unify the country’s international promotion.
- 2004–2018: The brand appears in global campaigns while visitor numbers more than double.
- 2018: The Tourism Promotion Council is disbanded and the ‘México’ brand is effectively retired from official use.
- 2020s: Tourism officials and industry groups push to restore the ‘México’ brand for international campaigns.
Mexico Logo Colors and Font
The brand’s palette is a festival of color — Mexican pink, red, yellow, green, blue, orange and purple — each letter carrying its own hue and decorative pattern.
