Introduction

Brand Overview
Craftsman was created in 1927 when Sears bought the rights to the name for its hardware department, and it grew into America’s best-known tool brand — famous for its lifetime hand-tool warranty and for kitting out generations of home workshops. Sears sold Craftsman to Stanley Black & Decker in 2017, and the brand was relaunched in 2018 with a redrawn red identity and a return to US manufacturing for much of the range.
- Founded: 1927, Chicago, Illinois, USA
- Founder: Created by Sears, Roebuck and Co.
- Industry: Hand and power tools
- Headquarters: Towson, Maryland, USA
History of the Craftsman Logo
Craftsman cycled through script badges and oval emblems during the Sears decades. The 2018 relaunch under Stanley Black & Decker stripped the identity back to essentials: squared white capitals on a red bar with a thin dark keyline — a deliberate echo of the mid-century marks American DIYers grew up with, cleaned up for modern packaging.
Meaning of the Craftsman Logo
- The red bar: red was always Craftsman’s shelf colour at Sears; the relaunch made it the whole logo.
- Block capitals: the squared, slightly industrial letterforms quote the stamped lettering on vintage Craftsman tool chests.
- The keyline: the dark outline keeps the red bar defined on the red tool bodies themselves.
Craftsman Logo Colors
| Color | Hex | RGB |
|---|---|---|
| Craftsman Red | #EE293D | 238, 41, 61 |
| White | #FFFFFF | 255, 255, 255 |
| Keyline Charcoal | #231F20 | 35, 31, 32 |
Red carries the heritage, white does the talking, and a hairline of charcoal holds the bar together.
Conclusion
The Craftsman relaunch logo proves a 1927 idea still works: white name, red bar, no decoration. Download the Craftsman logo in SVG and transparent PNG formats, free at VectorDose.
