About Vertcoin
Vertcoin (VTC) is a decentralized cryptocurrency launched in 2014 that was designed to stay true to the original vision of Bitcoin — mining accessible to everyone with ordinary graphics cards (GPUs). Unlike Bitcoin, which became dominated by expensive ASIC mining hardware, Vertcoin uses the Lyra2REv3 hashing algorithm to remain ASIC-resistant. The project is entirely community-driven with no premine and no corporate backing. The Vertcoin community remains active in advocating for decentralized mining, positioning the coin as a principled alternative in the proof-of-work landscape.
Vertcoin Logo Meaning and History
The Vertcoin logo uses a stylized “V” mark that echoes the design language of the Bitcoin logo, symbolizing its heritage as a Bitcoin-derived cryptocurrency. Rendered in a clean green color, it represents growth, accessibility, and the grassroots ethos of the project. The logo has remained consistent through the years, reflecting the community’s commitment to the original mission.
