SYM Overview
SYM is the motorcycle brand of Taiwan’s Sanyang Motor, maker of scooters and motorcycles such as the Jet, Joymax and Maxsym, exported worldwide since the 1950s.
- Founded: 1954
- Headquarters: Hsinchu, Taiwan
- Industry: Motorcycles
- Website: sym.com.tw
History of the SYM Logo
Sanyang Motor was founded in 1954 in Taipei by Huang Chi-Chun and Chang Kuo-An, building bicycles and then Honda-licensed motorcycles before developing its own SYM brand. The mark presented here — heavy blue S-Y-M letterforms cut by a red slash — is Sanyang’s current corporate and product logo. The current SYM logo presented on this page is the official mark in use today, kept in its original colors and proportions.
Meaning of the SYM Logo
- The three letters are engineered like a single casting — a parts maker’s logo for a parts maker’s brand.
- The red diagonal is the cut of speed through the blue block of reliability.
- Blue and red together mirror the Taiwanese flag’s colours, worn by one of its oldest motor companies.
