History of the Formula 1 Logo
The Formula 1 World Championship began in 1950. For 24 years the sport’s logo was the famous 1993 mark that hid a ‘1’ in the white space of a speeding F; after Liberty Media’s takeover, a new identity by Wieden+Kennedy arrived at the end of 2017 — an F built from two sharp angles that suggest both a Formula 1 car and the corner of a circuit, designed for screens and social media. The current Formula 1 logo presented on this page is the official mark in use today, kept in its original colors and proportions.
Meaning of the Formula 1 Logo
- The slanted F is shaped like a Formula 1 car at speed.
- The notch cut from the letterform suggests the corner of a racing circuit.
- The single red is Formula 1’s colour of speed, danger and passion.
