History of the Collins Aerospace Logo
Arthur Collins started building radios in his Cedar Rapids basement in 1933; his company’s name survived radios, avionics and two mergers to front the combined business in 2018. The identity adopted the RTX family system — the radiating sun device in black — keeping ‘Collins’ as the headline word. Under it sit the cockpits and cabins of most of the world’s airliners.
Meaning of the Collins Aerospace Logo
- The sun device: the RTX group’s shared mark — signal radiation drawn as rising bars, apt for a company born in radio.
- The Collins name: a founder’s surname kept through every merger — the basement workshop outlasted the conglomerates.
- Black only: one colour for a catalogue that runs from cockpit displays to ejection seats.
