Brand Overview
Rocket Lab is a space company founded in Auckland, New Zealand in 2006 by Peter Beck and headquartered in Long Beach, California. Its Electron rocket is one of the world’s most-flown small launchers, its Photon spacecraft bus serves deep-space missions, and its coming Neutron rocket aims at the medium-lift market — a startup that became NASA and the Pentagon’s frequent flyer.

History of the Rocket Lab Logo
Rocket Lab began with Peter Beck building rockets in New Zealand — a country with no space programme — and launched Ātea-1 in 2009. The identity matches the garage-to-orbit story: an angular R cut like a fin, struck through by a red streak (trajectory, re-entry glow, a launch contrail), over the name split black and grey. It has flown on Electron’s black fuselage since 2017.
Meaning of the Rocket Lab Logo
- The cut R: an initial built like a fin or a flame deflector — structure and fire in one letter.
- The red streak: the trajectory line every Rocket Lab mission draws, frozen across the symbol.
- Black and grey: carbon composite above, engineering grey below — Electron’s own colour scheme.

Conclusion
A fin, a flame path and two words: the Rocket Lab logo is a launch trajectory drawn as a letter.
