Brand Overview
Sikorsky Aircraft is an American helicopter manufacturer headquartered in Stratford, Connecticut, founded in 1923 by aviation pioneer Igor Sikorsky. It built the world’s first practical helicopters, the Black Hawk and Seahawk families, the President’s Marine One fleet and the heavy-lift CH-53K — and has been a Lockheed Martin company since 2015.

History of the Sikorsky Logo
Igor Sikorsky flew his VS-300 in 1939 and effectively invented the modern helicopter; his company’s marks evolved from winged emblems to the current confident wordmark — italic blue capitals under a four-pointed star with a trailing swoosh, a rotor’s arc abstracted. Since the 2015 Lockheed Martin acquisition, the lockup carries the line ‘A Lockheed Martin Company’ beneath the founder’s name, which remains the brand.
Meaning of the Sikorsky Logo
- The star and swoosh: a rotor arc and a navigation star — the helicopter’s two gifts, lift and direction.
- The italics: the founder’s surname leans forward at cruise speed, a century after he sketched his first rotorcraft.
- Sikorsky blue: a deep aviation blue shared with its parent — one fleet, one colour discipline.

The inventor’s name, still flying: the Sikorsky logo signs the Black Hawk with the same confidence Igor brought to the VS-300.
