Brand Overview
MBDA is Europe’s leading missile manufacturer, formed in 2001 by merging the missile businesses of Airbus, BAE Systems and Leonardo. Headquartered in Le Plessis-Robinson, France, it builds Meteor, Storm Shadow/SCALP, Aster and Exocet — the guided weapons of most European air forces and navies — and is the world’s only group offering missiles across every combat domain.

History of the MBDA Logo
MBDA was Europe’s defense industry learning to merge: three national missile champions folded into one company in 2001, named from the initials of its parents (Matra, BAe, Dynamics, Alenia). The identity is a wordmark with intent — black italic initials at missile speed, the crossbar of the A replaced by a red point, and the trade stated plainly underneath: MISSILE SYSTEMS.
Meaning of the MBDA Logo
- The italic initials: four parent-company letters leaned into flight — a merger drawn at Mach speed.
- The red point: the A’s crossbar becomes a target dot — the one accent, placed like a seeker’s aim point.
- Black and red: carbon and warning — the two colours of the launch checklist.
