History of the Burt’s Bees Logo
The brand’s packaging long carried founder Burt’s bearded portrait, but the master logo is the wordmark itself: the name in a warm, slightly old-fashioned serif, set in red. As the range grew from lip balm to a full baby line, the portrait retired to the packs and the red serif name became the identity everything hangs from.
Meaning of the Burt’s Bees Logo
- The homestead serif: lettering with a hand-set, general-store feel — a Maine roadside stand, not a cosmetics lab.
- The barn red: a warm farmyard red that keeps the brand earthy where rivals go pastel.
- The apostrophe’s story: ‘Burt’s’ keeps a real beekeeper’s name on every tube — the founder is the trademark.
