Brand Overview
The Honest Company is an American consumer goods company founded in 2012 in Los Angeles by actress Jessica Alba with Christopher Gavigan, Brian Lee and Sean Kane. It built its name on transparently labelled baby products — nappies, wipes and bath care ‘free from’ long lists of unwanted ingredients — before expanding into beauty and household lines.

History of the Honest Company Logo
From launch, the identity paired the butterfly roundel with the single word HONEST in even, unfussy capitals — a design that has barely changed through the company’s growth and its 2021 stock-market listing. The butterfly, drawn as two mirrored leaf-like wings inside a thin ring, became the trustmark stamped across its famously patterned nappies.
Meaning of the Honest Company Logo
- The butterfly: a creature that touches a baby’s world gently and signals natural ingredients — transformation and lightness in one mark.
- The plain capitals: the word HONEST is set without decoration, as if to say the claim needs no styling to be believed.
- The single black: one colour, nothing hidden — the visual form of the ingredient transparency the brand was founded on.
