Brand Overview
Gedore was founded in 1919 as Gedore Werkzeugfabrik Otto Dowidat KG by the three Dowidat brothers — Otto, Karl and Willi — who began manufacturing hand tools for industry in Remscheid, Germany, starting with adjustable wrenches and iron hole punches. In 1926 the company relocated to Remscheid-Lüttringhausen, where the main factory and headquarters remain today. The Gedore Group now operates seven production facilities, employs around 2,000 people worldwide and lists some 16,000 items across its GEDORE and GEDORE red lines and the Ochsenkopf forestry brand.

History of the Gedore Logo
The name itself is the first piece of design: GEDORE is an acronym of GEbrüder DOwidat REmscheid — “Dowidat Brothers, Remscheid”. The wordmark sets that acronym in heavy chamfered capitals, and its signature detail is the final E, whose middle bar stretches into a solid triangular flag. The blue form sourced here is the primary wordmark — the file Wikimedia Commons carries, drawn from Gedore’s own web presence; on gedore.com the same letterforms also appear reversed in white on the group’s deep navy with the strapline “Werkzeuge fürs Leben” (tools for life).
Meaning of the Gedore Logo
- An acronym as a name: GE-DO-RE packs the founders and their hometown into six letters — Gebrüder Dowidat, Remscheid.
- The flag E: the last letter’s extended triangular bar is the mark’s signature — a pennant planted at the end of the name.
- Chamfered capitals: the letters are cut with angled corners like the facets of a forged nut, drawn the way the tools are made.
- Gedore blue: the brand-typical blue the group uses across its corporate sites, standing for the engineering side of the forge.

Conclusion
The Gedore logo is an acronym forged into a wordmark — six letters, one flag, a century of Remscheid steel behind it. Download the Gedore logo in SVG and transparent PNG formats, free at VectorDose.
