Brand Overview
Knipex was founded in 1882 in Wuppertal, Germany, by C. Gustav Putsch, starting as a small forge making pliers. Four generations later the family company employs around 1,800 people and makes almost nothing but pliers — over 100 types, from Cobra water-pump pliers to the Pliers Wrench — exported to more than 100 countries.

History of the Knipex Logo
The red diamond is Knipex’s long-standing device: the name set in white inside a rhombus that reads like a road-work warning sign — appropriate for a brand whose tools live in electricians’ and plumbers’ kits. The diamond reproduces the shape language of the Wuppertal forge marks while giving Knipex one of the most recognisable silhouettes in hand tools.
Meaning of the Knipex Logo
- The red diamond: a rhombus like a warning sign — maximum visibility and instant silhouette recognition on a tool wall.
- White capitals: the name is reversed out of the red so the diamond itself is the brand colour block.
- One product focus: the confidence of the mark mirrors the company — a world specialist that makes only pliers.
