Introduction

Brand Overview
Wera was founded in 1936 by Hermann Werner, first in Radevormwald — the name combines Werner with the town — and is now headquartered in Wuppertal, Germany. Wera makes screwdrivers, ratchets and bits, famous for the Kraftform handle, the Joker wrench and a cult following among mechanics; its motto is “Be a Tool Rebel”. The green W of the logo is drawn from the silhouettes of its own screwdrivers.

History of the Wera Logo
Wera’s mark turns product into alphabet: the W symbol stacks screwdriver profiles — handles and shafts — into a letter. Paired with a black slab wordmark and the German strapline “Werkzeug aus Ideen”, the lockup sourced here is the company’s classic form; the green has brightened over the years while the symbol’s construction has stayed the same.
Meaning of the Wera Logo
- The W symbol: the letter is built from the tools themselves — screwdriver silhouettes stacked into a W.
- Wera green: a fresh mint-green that stands apart in the red-and-black hand-tool aisle.
- The strapline: “Werkzeug aus Ideen” — tools from ideas — states the brand’s invention-first philosophy in its native German.
