Introduction
The Stanley logo is the word STANLEY in black capitals on a solid yellow rectangle. It belongs to Stanley, the American hand-tool brand founded in 1843 and now part of Stanley Black & Decker. Download the Stanley logo in SVG and PNG formats below, free at VectorDose.
Brand Overview
Stanley was founded in 1843 in New Britain, Connecticut, by Frederick Trent Stanley, making wrought-iron bolts, hinges and door hardware. The Stanley Works grew into one of the defining American tool companies — tape measures, utility knives, planes and levels that still carry the name. Since the 2010 merger that created Stanley Black & Decker, Stanley is the group’s flagship hand-tool brand.

History of the Stanley Logo
Stanley’s marks evolved from ornate 19th-century foundry stamps to clean industrial lettering. The modern identity reduced the name to bold black capitals on a yellow field — a lockup standardised across the hand-tool range in the late 20th century and kept through the Stanley Black & Decker era, where it now sits alongside the group’s other brands.
Meaning of the Stanley Logo
- The yellow field: the rectangle is the logo — a solid block of Stanley yellow that works like a label riveted onto every product.
- Black capitals: plain, upright grotesque lettering chosen for the workshop, not the boardroom: honest, heavy, unfussy.
- Name only: no symbol has ever stuck; after 180 years the surname itself is the icon.

| Color | Hex | RGB |
|---|---|---|
| Stanley Yellow | #FBD504 | 251, 213, 4 |
| Black | #000000 | 0, 0, 0 |
Yellow and black give Stanley the same shelf-blocking contrast as its sister brand DeWalt, in a calmer, straighter cut.
Conclusion
Few tool logos are older or simpler: a name, a yellow block, nothing else needed. Download the Stanley logo in SVG and transparent PNG formats, free at VectorDose.
