About Twitch

Twitch is the world’s leading live-streaming platform, best known for video-game broadcasts, esports tournaments, and creator-driven live content. It was launched in June 2011 as a spin-off of the general streaming site Justin.tv, founded by Justin Kan and Emmett Shear. As gaming streams exploded in popularity, Twitch quickly overtook its parent brand. Amazon acquired the company in August 2014 for approximately $970 million, and Twitch has since grown into a global community of millions of streamers and viewers.

Twitch Logo Meaning and History

The Twitch name plays on “twitch gameplay” — the split-second reflexes of a gamer. Its icon, a squared chat bubble nicknamed “Glitch,” represents the live conversation between streamers and their audiences, which is the heart of the platform. The wordmark’s blocky, slightly irregular letters nod to retro arcade and gaming culture.

Twitch Logo Evolution

• 2011: Twitch launched with a wordmark carried over from the Justin.tv era, set in its signature purple.
• 2014: After Amazon’s acquisition, the logo was subtly refined as Twitch scaled into a global platform.
• 2019: A major rebrand introduced a bold, extruded block letterform inspired by 1980s arcade aesthetics, alongside a brighter, more vibrant purple.

Twitch Logo Colors and Font

The brand’s unmistakable color is Twitch Purple (#9146FF, formerly #6441A5), paired with white and black. The wordmark uses a custom chunky sans-serif with deep 3D extrusion. Whether you need a twitch logo png with a transparent background or a twitch logo svg vector for crisp scaling, the flat purple-and-white artwork stays recognizable at any size.
