The Wall Street Journal is an American business and financial newspaper published by Dow Jones & Company. Its first issue appeared on July 8, 1889, founded by reporters Charles H. Dow, Edward D. Jones, and Charles Bergstresser, who had previously circulated hand-delivered market bulletins nicknamed “flimsies” to stock traders. Controlled by the Bancroft family for most of the 20th century, Dow Jones was acquired by News Corp in 2007. The Journal has won 39 Pulitzer Prizes and counts more than four million digital subscribers.
The Journal’s nameplate — “THE WALL STREET JOURNAL.” set in a stately old-style serif — is one of the most unchanged and recognizable mastheads in publishing. Its deliberate conservatism signals authority and continuity: the visual opposite of a startup rebrand, and a mark of trust for financial readers since 1889.
The logo is a classic black nameplate on white, with no accent colors — authority expressed through typography alone. The masthead uses a traditional old-style serif. Whether you need a the wall street journal logo png with a transparent background or a the wall street journal logo svg vector for crisp scaling, the black-on-white artwork stays crisp at any size.
