About TaskRabbit

TaskRabbit is an online marketplace that matches freelance “Taskers” with local demand for everyday jobs — furniture assembly, moving, cleaning, delivery, and handyman work. It was founded in 2008 by Leah Busque, who came up with the idea one evening when she and her husband ran out of dog food and wished someone nearby could pick some up. On September 28, 2017, IKEA announced its acquisition of TaskRabbit; the company continues to operate independently from San Francisco.

TaskRabbit Logo Meaning and History

The name fuses “task” with “rabbit” — a nod to getting errands done at rabbit speed. The logo is a friendly lowercase wordmark that helped position the platform as the approachable face of the gig economy, years before on-demand services became mainstream.

TaskRabbit Logo Evolution

• 2008 — The launch identity debuted in Boston, built around the playful task-plus-rabbit concept.
• 2013 — The brand expanded internationally, choosing London as its first market outside the United States.
• 2017 — The identity carried into the IKEA era after the acquisition, as Taskers became the furniture giant’s assembly partner.
