Brand Overview
Safran is a French aerospace and defense group headquartered in Paris, created in 2005 by the merger of engine maker Snecma and electronics group Sagem. Through CFM International, its joint venture with GE Aerospace, Safran powers more airliners than any other engine maker, and also builds landing gear, avionics, rocket propulsion and defense electronics.

History of the Safran Logo
The name Safran — French for the rudder’s trailing edge, and close to the word for saffron — was chosen at the 2005 merger to give two proud engineering houses one new flag. The identity pairs the name with an ‘S’ drawn as two interlocking swooshes, part turbine blade, part leaf: propulsion on one side, the environment on the other. Refreshed in gradient blues, it has signed the group ever since.
Meaning of the Safran Logo
- The twin-swoosh S: two blades interlocked — an engine fan and a leaf, thrust and responsibility in a single letter.
- The slate wordmark: quiet grey capitals keep the symbol as the hero — engineering first, decoration second.
- Safran blue: a bright aeronautical blue, shaded like metal catching sky light.
