RB Leipzig Overview
RB Leipzig (RasenBallsport Leipzig) is a German football club based in Leipzig that rose from the fifth tier to the Bundesliga and European competition within a decade of its founding.
- Founded: 2009
- Headquarters: Leipzig, Germany
- Sport: Association football club
- Website: rbleipzig.com
History of the RB Leipzig Logo
RB Leipzig were founded in 2009 when Red Bull GmbH acquired the playing licence of fifth-tier SSV Markranstädt. The crest — two red bulls charging at a football inside a navy shield — was adjusted in 2014 to satisfy German licensing requirements, softening the original corporate look; the club’s official name, RasenBallsport (‘lawn ball sports’), keeps the initials RB without naming the sponsor. The current RB Leipzig logo presented on this page is the official mark in use today, kept in its original colors and proportions.
Meaning of the RB Leipzig Logo
- The two charging bulls are Red Bull’s global symbol of energy and attack.
- The football between the bulls states the club’s purpose at a glance.
- The clean navy shield gives one of Europe’s youngest top-flight clubs a modern, corporate frame.
