Rangers Overview
Rangers FC is a Scottish football club based at Ibrox in Glasgow, the world’s most successful club by domestic league titles.
- Founded: 1872
- Headquarters: Glasgow, Scotland
- Sport: Association football club
- Website: rangers.co.uk
History of the Rangers Logo
Rangers were founded in March 1872 by the McNeil brothers and two friends after watching men playing football on Glasgow Green. The club’s primary crest is the roundel presented here — ‘Rangers Football Club’ around a red lion rampant taken from Scotland’s royal arms, with the motto ‘Ready’ below — while the famous interwoven RFC scroll crest of 1879 remains the badge worn on the shirts. The current Rangers logo presented on this page is the official mark in use today, kept in its original colors and proportions.
Meaning of the Rangers Logo
- The lion rampant comes from the royal standard of Scotland.
- ‘Ready’ is the club’s motto — always ready.
- The blue of the roundel is the club’s colour from its earliest days.
