About the Purolator Logo
Introduction
A red italic wordmark with two speed slashes cutting in front of it — the Purolator logo signs Canada’s other national courier, the Montreal-founded carrier majority-owned by Canada Post itself. It is one of the most durable marks in Canadian transport.
Brand Overview
Purolator is a Canadian courier and freight company founded in Montreal in 1960 as Trans Canadian Couriers, taking its present name from the Purolator oil-filter business it originally served. Today it is owned principally by Canada Post (91%) and moves freight and parcels across Canada and the US border. Its official website is purolator.com.
History of the Purolator Logo
The artwork in this download — the red italic wordmark struck by a blue-and-red slash device — is the identity Purolator has carried on its trucks and depots for two decades, the file the company’s Wikipedia article uses as its logo. The slashes lean with the italics: the whole lockup is drawn at the angle of a vehicle already moving.
Meaning of the Logo
- The speed slashes: Two diagonal cuts — blue (#00529C) over red — ahead of the name, like motion lines in a comic strip: the parcel is already gone.
- The italic wordmark: Purolator in a forward-leaning red (#EF3829) script-sans — speed set in type.
- Red and blue: Canada’s two postal colours, split between device and name — the private courier wearing the national palette.
Purolator Logo Colors
| Color | Hex Code | Usage |
|---|---|---|
| Purolator Red | #EF3829 | The wordmark and the lower slash (the logo file’s own fill value) |
| Purolator Blue | #00529C | The upper slash of the device (the logo file’s own fill value) |
Both colours are the artwork’s own fill values, taken from the logo file.
Conclusion
Purolator’s logo is a name overtaken by its own speed lines — two slashes, one lean, and Canada in red and blue.
