Brand Overview
Luvs is a brand of disposable nappies owned by Procter & Gamble, introduced in 1976 as a premium line and repositioned in the 1990s as the value alternative to P&G’s own Pampers, sold on the promise of overnight leak protection for less. It remains one of North America’s best-known nappy brands.

History of the Luvs Logo
Luvs began life in the 1970s with a more conventional pack identity, but as the brand moved downmarket in the 1990s its lettering went deliberately soft and toy-like. The current logo — thick white bubble letters outlined in deep purple with a pale lavender glow — is pure nursery: the word itself is baby-talk, and the type treats it that way.
Meaning of the Luvs Logo
- The bubble letters: inflated, rounded forms feel like bath toys and foam letters — a logo a toddler would recognise before reading it.
- The purple: deep violet separates Luvs from big-sister Pampers’ teal and Huggies’ red, owning a colour neither rival uses.
- The lavender halo: the soft outer glow reads like a night-light — fitting for a brand sold on sleeping through the night.
