JLG Logo Overview
JLG Industries, a subsidiary of Oshkosh Corporation, is the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of access equipment — boom lifts, scissor lifts and telehandlers — used in construction, industrial maintenance and facilities work worldwide.
- Founded: 1969
- Headquarters: McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania, USA
- Industry: Construction & Building
- Website: https://www.jlg.com
History of the JLG Logo
John L. Grove founded JLG in 1969 after leaving the Grove crane company he had co-founded, and sold the first JLG boom lift in 1970 — effectively creating the modern aerial work platform industry. The chunky orange JLG lettering, matched to the signature orange of its lifts, has barely changed since; Grove’s initials remain the entire brand.
Meaning of the JLG Logo
- The founder’s initials make the logo a personal guarantee from John L. Grove, the father of the aerial lift.
- The massive, stable letterforms mirror a boom lift planted firmly on its outriggers.
- JLG Orange is matched to the machines themselves, so the logo and the product are one and the same on site.
