About the Intel Ireland Logo
About Intel
Intel was founded in 1968 in Santa Clara, California, by Gordon Moore and Robert Noyce, two engineers who had helped create the semiconductor industry. Short for “Integrated Electronics,” the company became the driving force behind the personal computer revolution. The “Intel Inside” campaign of the 1990s made the company famous far beyond the tech world, and today it produces the Core, Xeon, and Arc chip families.
Logo Meaning and History
Intel’s first logo, from 1969, featured a dropped “e” descending below the baseline — a deliberate statement by the founders that the company was breaking with convention. The 2006 redesign enclosed the wordmark in a rounded swoosh suggesting a forward leap. The 2020 refresh modernized the logo with crisp geometric letterforms and the signature square dot of the “i.”
Evolution
- 1969: The original “dropped-e” logo, reportedly designed by founders Noyce and Moore in a modified Helvetica Bold, debuted with the company’s first products.
- 1991: Intel refined the wordmark and launched the “Intel Inside” campaign with the slogan “The Computer Inside,” making the logo a fixture on PCs.
- 2006: FutureBrand designed the first full redesign in company history: the wordmark inside a rounded swoosh, launched with the “Leap ahead” slogan.
- 2014: The brand typeface switched from Neo Sans Intel to Intel Clear, designed by Red Peak Branding and Dalton Maag.
- 2020: A new geometric logo debuted with the custom Intel One typeface and the square dot of the “i,” restoring the “e” to the baseline.
Colors and Font
The signature color is Intel Blue, HEX #0071C5 (RGB 0/113/197), standing for trust and reliability, supported by a spectrum of blue shades introduced in 2020. The current logo uses the proprietary Intel One typeface by Andrew Mirakian Design, succeeding marks set in modified Helvetica Bold, Neo Sans Intel, and Intel Clear.
