HTC Corporation — short for High Tech Computer Corporation — is a Taiwanese consumer electronics company founded on 15 May 1997 by Cher Wang, Peter Chou and H. T. Cho, headquartered in Taoyuan, Taiwan. Beginning as a contract manufacturer of notebook computers, HTC became a smartphone pioneer: the HTC Dream, released in 2008, was the first phone in the world to run Android. The company later diversified into virtual reality with the HTC Vive headset.
The HTC logo meaning is carried by the name itself: ‘High Tech Computer,’ a statement of the company’s engineering roots. The rounded wordmark was designed to feel human and approachable — a soft counterpoint to the company’s hardcore hardware heritage. The identity carried HTC from its years building devices for other brands, through the HTC TyTN launch of 2006 that put the HTC name on store shelves, to the ‘quietly brilliant’ era of global advertising that began in 2009.
The current HTC logo is a monochrome wordmark, typically shown in black on white or reversed white on black. Earlier versions of the identity incorporated the company’s green brand color. The mark uses a custom rounded typeface with no separate symbol — the letters themselves are the logo.
