History of the Bell Logo
For 83 years Bell Helicopter signed its aircraft with variations of a plain wordmark. In 2018 the company shortened its name to Bell and unveiled its first true symbol: a dragonfly — nature’s most accomplished helicopter, able to hover, dart and reverse — drawn inside a shield that echoes the badges of its military customers. In Bell red, the shield became the mark on everything from Army tiltrotors to air-taxi concepts.
Meaning of the Bell Logo
- The dragonfly: the insect that mastered the hover millions of years before the helicopter — agility as a design brief.
- The shield: a unit-badge outline, honouring the soldiers who made the Huey an icon.
- Bell red: the company’s long-standing signal colour, given a field to own at last in the 2018 shield.
