About the Ata Logo
About ATA
ATA is an airline brand name used by two different carriers. The best-known is ATA Airlines, the former U.S. airline originally known as American Trans Air (IATA code TZ), which ended operations in April 2008. The same name is used by ATA Airlines of Iran (IATA code I3), founded in December 2008 and based at Tabriz International Airport.
ATA Logo Meaning and History
The classic ATA airline logo pairs bold blue ATA lettering with a sweeping red arc above it — a dynamic mark suggesting flight and forward motion. The Iranian carrier’s logo is deliberately reminiscent of the American airline’s emblem, which is why the two marks are often confused.
ATA Logo Evolution
- U.S. era: The blue-and-red ATA mark became the face of American Trans Air as a major U.S. charter and scheduled carrier.
- 2008: The U.S. ATA Airlines ceased operations in April; later that year, Iran’s ATA Airlines adopted its similar-looking logo.
ATA Logo Colors and Font
The ATA logo uses airline blue (#2F5793) lettering with a red (#AD4246) arc — colors taken from the vector artwork itself — in a bold italic sans-serif.
