About Aston Martin

Aston Martin is a British manufacturer of luxury sports cars and grand tourers, headquartered in Gaydon, Warwickshire, England. The company was founded on 15 January 1913 by Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford, who had previously sold Singer cars as Bamford and Martin. The marque became a British cultural icon in the 1960s when James Bond drove a DB5 in the 1964 film Goldfinger, and it has held a royal warrant as purveyor of motorcars to the British monarch since 1982. Despite surviving seven bankruptcies, Aston Martin endures as a symbol of British automotive luxury, today led by executive chairman Lawrence Stroll with a Formula One team carrying the name.

Aston Martin Logo Meaning and History

The Aston Martin logo is a pair of outstretched wings framing the company name — a symbol of speed, freedom, and elegance that has adorned the marque’s cars since 1927. The winged emblem, with its distinctive layered feathers, is among the most beautiful badges in the automotive world and has remained remarkably consistent for nearly a century, evolving only through subtle refinements.

Aston Martin Logo Evolution

• 1921: The original logo was a simple circular badge combining the intertwined letters A and M, used until 1926.
• 1927: The famous wings first appeared, with the brand name stretched across them in a deep V-shape.
• 1932: A new version of the wings, created by S.C.H. Davis and said to be inspired by scarab beetles symbolizing new beginnings, established the emblem known today.
• 2003: The wings were refined with more depth and dimension for the modern era.
• 2022: British designer Peter Saville redrew the emblem with subtle but necessary enhancements, simplifying the feathers for digital applications.
