Asterix is a French comic album series about a village of indomitable Gauls who resist the Roman occupation thanks to a magic potion that grants superhuman strength. Created by writer René Goscinny and illustrator Albert Uderzo, the series debuted in the Franco-Belgian comics magazine Pilote on 29 October 1959, and the first collected album, Asterix the Gaul, appeared in 1961. Set in 50 BC, the stories follow the quick-witted Asterix and his loyal friend Obelix on adventures across the ancient world. With 41 volumes released as of 2025 and more than 390 million copies sold, Asterix is the best-selling European comic series in history, translated into over 110 languages.
The Asterix logo is a bold, cartoon-style wordmark whose playful lettering mirrors the humor of the comics. The name itself comes from astérisque, the French word for asterisk — a fitting name for a small hero with an outsized impact — and the logo’s chunky, hand-drawn letters capture the series’ mischievous spirit. The mark has become one of the most recognized emblems in European popular culture, appearing on albums, films, merchandise, and the Parc Astérix theme park near Paris.
The Asterix logo is drawn in a heavy, rounded cartoon typeface that feels hand-inked, reflecting Uderzo’s illustration style. Whether you need an asterix logo png with a transparent background or an asterix logo svg vector for fan projects and editorial use, the bold lettering stays readable and instantly recognizable at any size.
