About Arena

arena is an Italian competitive swimwear brand created in 1973 by Horst Dassler — son of Adidas founder Adolf Dassler and then president of Adidas France. The spark came at the 1972 Munich Olympics, where Dassler watched American swimmer Mark Spitz win seven gold medals and saw the value of a swimwear line built for the world’s top athletes. The name is no coincidence: like the arenas of ancient Rome, it was chosen for its competitive connotations. arena launched its first line, the ultra-light “Skinfit” (a fabric weighing just 18 grams), in 1973, signed Australian swimmer Shane Gould to its first sponsorship in 1974. Headquartered in Tolentino, Italy, it is present in over 100 countries and leads in racing tech suits like the Powerskin line.

Arena Logo Meaning and History

The arena logo consists of three vertically stacked diamonds in orange — a deliberate tribute to the three stripes of adidas, the company of founder Horst Dassler’s family. The diamond motif evokes the competitive arena the brand is named after. The lowercase “arena” wordmark keeps the identity modern and athletic.
